We Have a new Address!!

Andy and I moved to Mint Hill, North Carolina, in August, 2024. It was our plan to spend a few weeks in Andy’s dad’s rental home as we looked for a house, and the three of us would then move together. Andy and his dad wanted a place to work with their tools. I wanted a place to work with my crafts. I heard God say He had a home for us. So we “house hunted”.

We engaged a realtor. We looked online. We got our realtor’s daily email. We prayed. We searched.

Days, then weeks went by. When fall weather hit us, Andy and I realized that most of our winter clothing was in FL storage. We widened our search in the Charlotte area. Soon the holidays were upon us. Fewer homes were on the market. Had I made up or misheard God’s promise? Were we missing what He wanted for us?

In January, a home came back onto the market we liked. It was single-story, however the AC unit and roof were 26 years old. We decided to make them an offer and made it clear that we felt many things would need to be done for us to live in that space. We prayed that God would either open or close the door. Their response? No! The sellers chose to go with another buyer. Door quite clearly closed.

In early February we saw a house that looked promising. Within four days of it being on the market, we booked a tour. It was love at first sight. It is laid out much like our Florida house, but there is one bedroom and bath on a second floor (guest suite). There is a bedroom in the front of the house used as an office. Only thing I wanted to changed before I moved in? The kitchen was painted Texas orange, just not my thing (no offense Longhorns).

We met the owners a week later, Emily and Everett. Such a sweet couple, just a bit younger than dad, and they love the Lord. Emily gave us warm hugs. Everett was excited to show Andy the ins and outs of the garage. Their realtor, Jennifer, lives across the street. She and her husband worked for Reformed University Fellowship for five years (a campus ministry like Cru) when they were first married.

I have never chosen to be a gardener, but Emily has certainly left me a glorious yard of flowers and flowering trees. What a gift! I look forward to learning to care for them. So far I have enjoyed her lilacs, iris, amaryllis, peonies, and rose of Sharon. Just waiting for the hydrangea and hibiscus to bloom.

And in the midst of all of this, Andy has accepted a new position within Cru. In his words: “I have spent my entire career with Cru in some form of a technology support role. The U.S. Campus Ministry. The Office of the President. Most recently, in a broad support role for all of the U.S. ministry divisions. This new role is continuation of that, quite similar to what I have been doing the past 12 years. Except now the ’customer’ is all of our global (non-U.S.) staff. It’s working on the adoption of our core systems and tools by users outside of the U.S. ministry, and offering tech support for all non-U.S. staff members. I will be leading the Global Engagement Team, serving under the Global Technology Leader.” We are both excited to see where this new role will take Andy, literally. He already has meetings planned in Mexico and Indonesia.

P.S. By the way, we wanted to share with you some great news about helping reach the whole world with the love of Jesus. A “JESUS” film milestone, the,200th language has been completed!is the Bouna dialect of the Kulango language. This group of people is located in Côte d’Ivoire, and about 296,000 people speak this language. In many places where people don’t read, the JESUS film is an amazing tool. It helps people to hear the words of Jesus (from the Book of Luke) in their own language.
