Winter Conference

Happy New Year! How did it get to be 2025? That sounds like a year when we should be flying around in car-planes, and living on the moon. We do have computers in our pockets and artificial intelligence trying to break into our everyday activities. I, Catherine, not AI, get to write you this month!
Life in Mint Hill is going well. We are still looking for a house. (Please join us in praying for that!) I have found several fun antique and quilt stores, along with consignment and thrifts places. Andy and his dad are enjoying sharing an office space and talking computers and fixing things.

Winter Conference

When I sit at my desk, I think of how much I appreciate your partnership with us. Much of my work time for Dec./Jan. has been editing emails going to staff and students attending one of Cru’s 12 winter conferences. Winter Conference is a time where students are encouraged to see God’s heart for the lost of the world.

The Welcome Committee!

It was at a conference in Philadelphia in very late 1980 that I committed my whole life to Christ, and it stuck! I will be going to work at the Raleigh, NC, Winter Conference Jan. 17—19 where I will serve as the Information Desk coordinator.

Update: I had an amazing time in Raleigh. I had so much fun hanging out with young people on fire to grow in their relationship with God. The students came in from Appalachian State, NC State, UNC Wilmington, UNC, East Carolina Univ, Marshall, and more.

Two of the women I worked with!!

My info. team was three young Cru staff women who were so eager to serve. Because our Info. desk was placed well, my “extrovert” cup was always full. Some of my favorite moments involved getting to listen to the stories of others, and share my life story with them. I relished being able to share how God has been so very faithful to our family. Remember the summer mission I worked in 2023? The Headquarters Internship? I was given the opportunity to lead a seminar on it. And on the last night, I got to have dinner with Edwina Perkins, a mom, writer, editor, and sister whom I have known since early California days (1985). Her children and ours grew up together. Her oldest, Danielle, and our Cady were born 11 days apart.

This is one of the best parts of my job, getting to serve and work with others who are excited about their relationship with God through Jesus. Getting to hear the life change stories of those who work in the same organization I do. Thank you so much for helping make my time in Raleigh possible.
