The Lord is Faithful

Finally, dear brothers and sisters, I ask you to pray for us. Pray first that the Lord’s message will spread rapidly and be honored wherever it goes, just as when it came to you. Pray, too that we will be saved from wicked and evil people, for not everyone believes in the Lord. But, THE LORD IS FAITHFUL; He will make you strong and guard you from the evil one!
2 Thessalonians 3:1-3

God’s Faithfulness to Our Family

Becca and Zach and Murphy welcomed Jameson Daniel Greene-Rettig on Thursday, April 21st, his due date. Jameson’s grandmother, Erin, who is a midwife/doula, Andy, and I were able to be with Becca and Zach on Jameson’s birth-day. What a privilege. Zach was able to have a week at home with momma and baby, and Becca will be home for six weeks. I am thrilled to be just down the street to help out.

We are elated with God’s goodness to our family and filled with gratitude for His gifts to us. Murphy loves to hold the sides of Jameson’s head and whisper to him, “It’s okay, buddy. I’ve got you. I’ve got you.” She is the master paci-replacer! Over his first month, Jameson has been holding his head up and sleeping well and feeding like a champ. Between his two and four week appointment with his doctor, he went from 8 lbs to 11 lbs. He loves to burp on me, enjoys having Papa Andy carry him around, and we will miss him as he goes to school with momma starting June 6th.

God’s Faithfulness in Colorado

Andy and seven others recently spent a week in Colorado. Most of the week the team worked on inspecting, separating and repacking six trailers of storage – the stuff that accumulates over 40 years of holding Cru’s U.S. staff conference there. The week before they arrived in CO, it was in the 50’s with high winds. That week it was in the low 70’s and 80’s, little-to-no wind.

There were no serious injuries to the eight people working on this project. Lots of ibuprofen was taken, many hot showers were required!!

Out of the six trailers, only one leaked rainwater. Sadly, it contained crib mattresses for the summer childcare. However, someone put several plastic kiddie pools on top of the mattresses, and they caught a good bit of the rain water. Fewer than 50 mattresses were lost.

The evening of the second day, without sharing it with each other, most of the team did not believe that they would finish the task of going through all of the trailers by Friday. But, they dug in! Not only did they get the job done, they were able to bless many families with our “left-behinds.” Bikes, household items, toys, strollers, wagons, microwaves, clothes.

Friday the winds picked back up and the temperature was barely in the 60’s. The men all commented that they could not have finished the job if the weather had been like that the whole week.

God is Faithful Even in the Dark

My heart continues to be heavy for the families, students, soldiers and leaders in the Ukraine. Add to that the families in Buffalo, California, and Texas who have lost loved ones. In these times I must cling to the truths set forth by God Himself: He is with us (Matthew 18:20), God comforts the mourning (Matthew 5:4), He is close to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). May you be able to cling to the hope we have in Jesus!!
