Hello friends, family, and ministry partners. Just a quick note. We appreciate your partnership with us!
Andy and his teams are leading a project with the program, Okta (OCK-tuh). This is no short assignment, it will effect every Cru staff member, ministry volunteer, and donor. Every website or internal application that requires a user to “log in” has a system behind that. That system stores your ID and password and controls your access to websites and programs. Sometime in the next few months, if you use any of Cru’s websites, you will see this change.
Catherine had a special assignment in February, she got to spend a day and a half with the shortest member of our family, Miss Murphy! She is such a happy baby, is starting to crawl, and loves to hear herself “talk.” She just turned 6 months old and Khloe turned 4! Becca and Zach have been married three short years, Cady and Kevin have been married seven years.
March came in like a nuclear weapon
It would be hard to put out a letter now without talking about COVID-19, the coronavirus. It is March 19th 29th. There is new information every day, it is all overwhelming. This letter is late in coming to you because we keep changing parts of it due to how our lives and work are changing! I think, because of the number of times we have had to prepare for hurricanes, people here are buying cases and cases of bottled water with their toilet paper. I am grateful that unlike a hurricane, the virus will NOT take away our electricity.
For us, the greatest impact is that Rachel’s senior lacrosse season was canceled. She was devastated, texting, “I am not ready for this to be over.” Then the NCAA gave spring athletes another year to compete!! We are thrilled, as Rachel had already decided to spend another year at North Greenville, taking extra classes for coaching and training certifications. I have always worked from home, Andy will now be working from home and this week has been slammed with getting everyone else at HQ ready to work from home.
In the midst of all of this, God is still working. We wanted to share with you an introduction some of our college staff are using online:
Q: What do the coronavirus, Justin Bieber’s latest interview on Apple Music, and the gospel have in common?
A: Each one spreads virally through human networks.Bieber’s latest YouTube interview, in which he shares his faith and obedience to Jesus, saw a record 32.65 million views in its first week. COVID-19, first identified in China, is now active around the world. Fear feeds panic in hearts as well as financial markets.
In contrast, the good news that Jesus Christ proclaims—freedom for the captives and oppressed—continues to spread as it has for 20 centuries. I find it easy to forget that God is still in control and that He has not forgotten us. God’s is still at work!
In the midst of all of the changes, God is our Rock, Jesus is our anchor!! These precarious times teach me to appreciate each day that I have with Andy and with my family and friends. May we count each day precious, each person that touches our life as priceless. Our Father in Heaven wants us to know through this whole pandemic that things are in His control. These things come about so that our gaze is shifted from ourselves to Him!
Again, thank you for your partnership with us as we do the work before us.
