Thank you for the opportunities I have to minister with Cru, most recently to be a part of Cru’s Global Technology Leaders Team. The group meets every 18 months, somewhere on the globe. These are men and women who oversee technology for large areas of the world (Southeast Asia, Western Europe). I had the honor of representing the USA. In September the group met in South Africa, between Johannesburg and Pretoria. Our hotel/conf. center was on the property of a working dairy farm. We were treated to some amazing milk and the best ice cream ever!!
The purpose of these meetings was to bring these technology leaders together to learn from one another, share stories, talk through issues facing the global ministry and to work on solutions. Cru tends to be a collection of ministries that have common goals but their daily ministry differs due to geography, culture, language, government. What excites me most is working together so that these solutions help our missionaries around the world focus more on telling people about Jesus!
A huge project is the replacement of our international accounting software. This will be the first time that all our non-US ministries will be using the same accounting system. We are not accountants, but as you can imagine there are innumerable “technology components” needed for this to be a success.
Another project we discussed and worked on was replacing the software used to access Cru’s computer systems in any way (for example: an employee accessing Cru’s resources online, or a donor giving online). This will better protect the identity of our donors and web visitors while also protecting the safety of our staff members in closed areas.
Below are some photos from my trip. The animals were in a wildlife park that all of the attendees visited — a great way to get over our arrival jet lag.
Thank you for your faithful partnership in the gospel with us. I wouldn’t be able to attend this conference without your support and your prayers.
In Christ,
