“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.” (Psalm 107:1)”
Catherine and I are remembering a joyous and relaxing Thanksgiving break last week. We have many things to be thankful for! We are thankful that God sent his son, Jesus Christ, and for Jesus’ work on the cross that offers us mercy, grace, love, and forgiveness. We are thankful God gives each believer the Holy Spirit to guide, direct, and pray for us. We are both thankful that God has called us to serve with Cru. We feel blessed to be part of the work that God is doing around the world.
We are thankful for you, our ministry partners, who pray and support our ministry. Together we are helping reach a lost and dying world with the good news of Jesus Christ!
Here are a few other things that we are praising God for:
Currently everyone in our family is in good health, which is no small thing. Rachel is finishing her first semester of her junior year at North Greenville University. We got to spend a few days with her and then a few days with Becca and Zach in Charleston. What a fun city to explore. Cady and Kevin hosted Thanksgiving dinner for us this year.
In the greater Cru ministry, the Jesus Film recently celebrated their 1,700th language translation of the Jesus Film. It is in the Cheke Itolo language, used by people on the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific. Several language translations are being scripted for people in the Amazon rainforest. God’s word is so much more powerful when someone can read or hear it in their heart language!
In digital ministry, Cru’s EveryStudent.com website has reached more than 1.5 million people in closed countries in the last four months. During this time in Egypt, 2,529 people came to faith in Jesus Christ after reading articles on this website. These new believers have been sent a Bible study on the book of John and directed to the follow-up website, StartingWithGod.com.
Like our Rachel, more than 2,800 college students went on Summer Mission trips during the summer of 2018. They shared the gospel more than 63,000 times, with about 5,300 people coming to faith in Christ through these conversations. These college students will take these skills back to their campuses and communities to spread God’s love and forgiveness long after their summer experience.
And, with an eye to the future of missions, 318 people (mostly college graduates) recently became full-time missionaries with Cru. They are serving all over the world, ministering to every segment of society. Another 290 people are serving
in one-year internships on college campuses around the world, and 365 are interning with Cru ministries in the US.
As I said, many things to be grateful for. And these little faces give us such joy. Rylie loves to call out, “Poppa” when she comes in our front door. Khloe loves to sing and twirl and have Catherine play the “tee-ar” (guitar) for them. Again, thank you so much for your part in what God has us doing!
