Rachel's Graduation!

2016-06-1Happy Summer! Miss Rachel has graduated from high school. Eighteen years . . . goes so fast (in some ways). Yet, when I think about the person that Rachel is becoming and has become already, I can see the growth that indicates time has passed. My baby girl has become a marvelous, independent woman.

At the beginning of this past school year Rachel had decided she would to go to Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, Florida, then transfer to University of Florida when she finished her AA degree. (She’s always wanted to be a Gator.) During winter season, the Master’s Academy announced they could not find a lacrosse coach and therefore would not have a lacrosse team, so Rachel resigned herself to not playing in college. Lacrosse seemed to be in her past.

Then one morning, Andy found that Rachel had written us a two-page letter. She had been talking to two friends (Seaver and Brenis). They could see Rachel’s passion for lacrosse, and encouraged her to take some online questionnaires from various schools about lacrosse, and whether the school offered the field of study she was interested in. The school that seemed to hit on all quadrants was North Greenville University. (Seaver and Brenis both plan to play lacrosse there). Within two days Rachel had spoken to the lacrosse coach and had arranged to go to Greenville to visit the team and campus. 2016-06-4The coach wanted Rachel, and Rachel wanted to go to NGU!

North Greenville University offers a Christ-centered liberal arts education. Athletically, NGU is a Division II school and next spring will be the fourth year of their women’s lacrosse program. North Greenville University is in Tigerville, South Carolina. Rachel will only be two hours from her grandparents and uncle, aunt and cousins in Charlotte, North Carolina. The area is stunningly beautiful and we are thrilled for Rachel!

  • Please join us in praying as our family makes the transition to having Rachel be seven hours away (okay, that prayer request is mostly for me!).
  • Pray for God to provide Rachel an amazing first year with good health and scholastic stamina.
  • Pray for us to wait patiently as God provides financially and emotionally for this new adventure.
  • Pray for Khloe as she continues to thrive! She is 4 months old!
