Cady and Kevin’s wedding day was originally March 2nd — 3/2/13. But, obstacles popped up. Big obstacles. They moved the date to March 9th—3/9/13. March 2nd arrived, “It came in like a lion . . . .” The day was wildly windy and cold — the cold that gets into your bones. March 9th arrived and the “lion” had turned to a “spring lamb.” The day was sunny and warm and glorious, just right for a fairy tale wedding.
How do I know when we are being prayed for? Supernatural calm in the face of stress. Andy and I got to the venue Sat. morning, the girls were doing hair and makeup and getting dressed. I got myself into my outfit, walked around, gave one or two directions and, “BOOM,” it was time to line up. Andy came in to see his little girl ready for her big day. I have included the picture on the next page — it will give you time to get a tissue!
Then, it was time to walk down the aisle. Andy’s older brother sang the same song he sang at our wedding (“I Could Never Promise You” by Don Francisco) as the family members were seated. Now, I am not going to lie, I loved walking down the aisle, seeing all of our friends and family in their wedding day finest, sporting their Cady and Kevin sunglasses.
It was a magic moment, watching Kevin see Cady all dressed up to become his wife. More tears of joy! Andy’s father gave a “talk” on what four things have made a difference in his 55 year marriage. The officiate gave a few words. Cady and Kevin had written notes to one another and placed them in a box, with a bottle of wine, to be opened on their first anniversary. Cady and Kevin wrote their own vows which were sweet and from the heart.
Quickly, the service was over. Our little girl was now officially Mrs. Kevin Bishop. Mrs. Cady Bishop. (I have practiced saying that over and over.) The reception was a glorious time of mingling, hugging, dancing and laughter. Family members from all sides. Long time friends. First grade classmates. The new Bishops left the celebrations in a horse-drawn carriage. The next day they left for the Dominican Republic for their honeymoon and are now back to their new home, and both back to work.
I hope this gives you a glimpse of God’s goodness to us on March 9th! I’ve included more pictures below.

We all looked at one another and agreed — the day had been so “Cady and Kevin.” It had been their vision, their words, a great reflection of who they are, what they love and their love for each other.
